Palliative Care Network
Purpose
The SGO Palliative Care Network serves to promote the importance of palliative care training for all gynecologic oncology team members.
Network members will receive information regarding:
- Palliative and hospice training offerings;
- Associated palliative research funding sources; and,
- Certification in palliative care medicine - currently available to all ABOG certified OB/GYNs and gynecologic oncologists.
Palliative Care Network's Position Statement
During the 2010 Palliative Care breakout session in San Francisco, members of the Palliative Network suggested that a position statement on palliative care be developed for the SGO. The statement solidifies SGO’s position as leading in women’s cancer care, embraces the new multidisciplinary culture of the SGO, highlights the need for palliative training for young physicians and addresses compassion fatigue for practitioners.
