American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

CME Compliance

SGO has earned full accreditation from the Joint Accreditation Council, which includes the ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC. Acquiring this status ensures that SGO’s educational activities and products are free from commercial bias and based on valid content by the healthcare team for the healthcare team. Activities that are designated with CME/CNE credit assure the medical community and the public that such activities provide medical practitioners with information that can assist them in maintaining or improving their practice of medicine. An important element of Joint Accreditation compliance is disclosing and resolving any potential conflicts of interest between a presenter and a corporate entity. Policies approved by the SGO Board of Directors state that all individuals participating in an accredited continuing medical education activity must disclose any financial relationships. All conflicts will be resolved through a mechanism included in SGO’s Conflict of Interest Resolution Policy. Protecting and maintaining SGO’s accreditation status is vital for the continued success of SGO’s educational offerings. Activities and products with accreditation attached equate to a fair and balanced educational experience.
