The Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) COVID-19 resources are produced by the COVID-19 Task Force and dispatched in a rapidly evolving environment with enormous variation depending on time and location. They are not to be construed as hard and fast practice guidelines, but temporary considerations during the COVID-19 emergency crisis.

Given the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the following resources and considerations are provided to enable practitioners to deliver cancer care while protecting the health and safety of both patients and members. Data are limited, and these considerations will need to be modified as more information emerges about COVID-19 or further resource stratification becomes necessary as the crisis evolves. The considerations provided may not be applicable in all clinical settings or may need to be modified as different loco-regional situations arise.

Keeping Members Informed in the Crisis

SGO Immediate Past President Warner K. Huh, MD, shares SGO’s plans to keep members informed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key Points:

  • SGO has created a COVID-19 Task Force.
  • SGO will be issuing frequent COVID-19 Communiqués on COVID-19 impacted issues such as patient surgical selection and timing; chemotherapy administration, selection and scheduling; enrollment of and management of patients in clinical trials; resident and fellow education; patient resources; and your own wellness.
  • SGO encourages members to collaborate among themselves via the members-only COVID-19 listserv, a new private Facebook group or on Twitter using #SGOCOVID19.

SGO COVID-19 Task Force

The SGO COVID-19 Task Force was created to gather and share important resources about surgery, infusion, clinical trials, resident and fellow education, patient communications, and your own wellness during the COVID19 crisis. This task force consists of representatives from various SGO committees.
