SGO CME/CE Mission Statement

SGO is a national medical specialty society for health care providers trained in the comprehensive management of women’s cancers. The society was initially developed for gynecologic oncologists—obstetrician/gynecologists with three to four years of additional, intensive training in the specific study of gynecologic cancers. SGO expanded its membership to include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, social workers, scientists, pathologists and allied health care professionals interested in the treatment and care of women’s cancer. This comprehensive inclusion of other professionals committed to women’s cancer healthcare enhances SGO members’ ability to provide superior multidisciplinary cancer treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and supportive care.

SGO fosters collaboration among our members and their colleagues to advance the overall care of women with gynecologic cancer and to eradicate all women’s cancers and the suffering from these cancers.

More About Continued Education

For what types of education does SGO offer CME?

SGO offers AMA PRA Category1 Credit(s)™ for a variety of educational activities, including those developed as face‐to‐face meetings and online, electronic offerings through SGO ConnectEd. Visit SGO Meetings and Events to view our face‐to‐face and online educational opportunities.  SGO also offers CME credit to Manuscript Reviewers for Gynecologic Oncology.

How do I claim credit?

Associated with each educational activity for which credit is offered is an activity evaluation and/or post‐test. In conjunction with the evaluation/post‐test, learners are provided the opportunity to claim credit for their participation in the activity. All live meeting evaluations are sent electronically, via email, immediately following the activity.

All internet activity evaluations also include a post‐test component that requires the learner to answer a percentage of the questions correctly, based on the content presented in the activity. The internet activity evaluation and post‐test are available upon the conclusion of the activity.

What is SGO’s process for identifying and resolving conflicts of interest?

An important element of ACCME compliance is disclosing and resolving any conflicts of interest between a speaker or individual involved in the educational planning process and a commercial interest. SGO Council-approved policies state that all individuals participating in a CME activity or in a position to affect the educational content development must disclose all financial relationships via the SGO Financial Disclosure Form. All financial relationships will be resolved through a mechanism outlined in SGO’s ACCME Conflict of Interest Resolution policy.

As an ACCME provider, SGO is approved to offer AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ to physician participants through the American Medical Association (AMA). Per AMA guidelines, physicians eligible to receive AMA PRA Category1 Credit(s)™ are individuals who have completed an MD, DO or equivalent medical degree from another country or who have obtained a Fifth Pathway certificate.

We’re happy to offer education for learners around the world.
