Emily Hill, PA
Emily Hill, who has a broad professional background in the health care industry, is the President of Hill and Associates. Emily provided direct patient care as a certified Physician Assistant for a family practice group, served as Chief Executive Officer of a mental health facility, and was Vice President of Operations for a psychiatric management company. Her clinical, administrative, and consulting experience gives her a unique perspective in advising healthcare providers and their staff in medical practice management. With over 20 years of experience as a health care consultant, she has worked with numerous academic and private practices on coding, reimbursement, compliance, and practice management issues.
Ms. Hill has taught coding seminars for a number of medical specialty societies. She is a well-received national speaker and currently serves as a representative on the Health Care Professional’s Advisory Committee Review Board for the Relative Value Update Committee and as an advisor to the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Academy of Pain Medicine on coding and reimbursement issues.
Mark Shahin, MD, FACOG, FACS
Mark S. Shahin, MD, FACOG, FACS, is currently the Director of the Institute for Gynecologic Oncology at Abington Health in Abington, PA and Clinical Associate Professor at Temple University School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences. Dr. Shahin earned his MD through Northwestern University Medical School and continued on to do his residency at McGraw Medical Center of Northwestern University and fellowships in Gynecology & Gynecologic Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Shahin has published numerous book chapters and even more peer reviewed articles while also lecturing extensively on topics from Immunobiology of malignancies to use of anesthesia and coding practices. Dr. Shahin has been awarded many honors, among them, the National CREOG Faculty Teaching Award in 2002, 2007, and 2012.
Dr. Shahin has been a member of the SGO Coding Committee since 2009 and has been the Vice Chair since 2010. He has previously taught webinars on various coding topics, specifically on coding evaluation and management and the use of modifiers and coding for surgical procedures.
