The purpose of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology is to:
(a) promote and further the goals and common professional interests of cancer clinicians and scientists;
(b) develop and promote high ethical and practice standards for cancer clinicians and scientists;
(c) interact and cooperate with other professional organizations of physicians and health care providers;
(d) develop professional educational programs and materials to enhance the ability of other physicians and health professionals to address the needs of patients with gynecologic cancer;
(e) communicate to the public about all aspects of gynecologic cancer directly and through interaction with other medical and health professions, professional societies, and governmental bodies;
(f) work independently and with professional, patient and other consumer groups to influence federal and state governmental agencies to further the interests of patients with gynecologic cancer; and
(g) operate as a professional association.
