First Impressions from the SGO Winter Meeting | B.J. Rimel, MD

Breckenridge, Colorado, was the site of this year’s SGO Winter Meeting on Feb. 20-22. A record-breaking 216 Society members attended despite of (or perhaps because of) the immense amount of fresh snow (over 280% of snowpack). I must confess that this was my first Winter Meeting. Not being a particularly athletic soul, racing downhill at high speed has never had much appeal. That said, I will be back next year. It’s a GREAT meeting.

SGO Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer®

This gynecologic oncology conference is the premier educational and scientific event for women’s healthcare professionals, including members of the entire gynecologic cancer care team who provide treatment and care in the areas of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery, and palliative care. Attendees include gynecologic oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, hematologists, surgical oncologists, obstetrician/gynecologists, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, research scientists, fellows in training, residents, and social workers.

2019 SGO Coding Webinar

A 90-minute webinar, Coding Bootcamp: Basics of Surgical Coding, is geared towards residents, gynecologic oncology fellows and recent fellowship graduates, but is open to all health care professionals. SGO members Eileen Segreti, MD, and David Holtz, MD, will discuss the general aspects of coding for procedures, rules of coding, definitions of global period, Current Procedures Terminology (CPT) and the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD). Proper use of modifiers and common codes used in gynecologic oncology will also be discussed. Kevin Holcomb, MD, will be the discussant for a 30-minute question and answer session.

SGO Winter Meeting

The SGO Winter Meeting is more intimate than the Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer and it offers attendees the opportunity to network with peers as well as learn practical strategies for treating gynecologic cancers. The 2020 SGO Winter Meeting will be held on Feb. 6-8 at The Westin Snowmass near Aspen, CO.

Early Career Educational Summit

Early Career Educational Summit is a one-and-a-half-day course was designed to balance the scientific and clinical education with career development.

Minimally Invasive Surgery Academy
