Every September, Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month (GCAM) asks us to look closer, speak louder, and move together. This year, the Foundation for Women’s Cancer (FWC) and the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) are raising the bar, not just in awareness, but in action. And if you’re not in Washington, D.C. on September 13–14, you’ll wish you were.
A Forum That Starts Conversations…and Builds Hope
On Saturday, September 13, the Patient & Advocate Education Forum opens its doors as a space for learning, sharing, and connection. This one-day gathering brings together survivors, caregivers, advocates, and experts to exchange knowledge and lift each other up.
Sessions will cover:
- How clinical trials are becoming more accessible and practical
- Tips for managing side effects, nutrition, and sexual health
- A candid panel on survivorship and emotional wellness
- The latest innovations in technology, AI, and surgical care
Whether you come seeking answers, community, or simply encouragement, you’ll leave with renewed strength and a deeper sense of belonging. This is where voices come together and where hope takes root.
The Race That Moves Us All
Then comes Sunday, September 14: The National Race to End Women’s Cancer. Freedom Plaza transforms into a sea of peach, teal, purple, and unstoppable energy. From survivors and caregivers to advocates and allies, thousands will lace up, walk, run, and roll in solidarity. The morning kicks off with an uplifting pre-race program, inspiring speakers, and the unmissable presentation of a proclamation honoring the weekend.
It’s not just a 5K. It’s a rallying cry. Every step is for the 115,000 women diagnosed with gynecologic cancers in the U.S. each year. Every finish-line photo is proof that when we move together, we change the future.
Don’t Miss Your Moment
Whether you join the conversation at the Forum, feel the rush of the Race, or do both, one thing is certain: you’ll be part of something bigger than yourself. And if you sit this one out, be warned—you’ll see the photos, hear the stories, and wish you’d been there.
So mark the dates. Bring a friend. Bring a team. Bring your voice, your story, your strength.
September in D.C. is where the movement happens. The only question is: Will you be there?
The movement isn’t over. Check out more ways you can Move4Her to support gynecologic cancer research, education, and awareness in 2025.
