What happens after treatment?
After surgery, it is important that you not place anything in your vagina until your doctor tells you that it is OK. During the first few weeks after surgery, you may experience side effects such as discomfort or bleeding. If you receive radiation treatment, you will notice less natural lubrication from the vagina and some narrowing of the vagina. You may also notice a change in the sensations that you experience during vaginal sexual intercourse. Your doctor will likely explain that you should use a vaginal dilator after treatment to help with intercourse and future examinations.
