Personal Statement
It is a privilege to be considered for the position of SGO President-Elect. Throughout my career, I have been driven by a single purpose—to improve the lives of women with gynecologic cancers through compassionate care, scientific innovation, and mentorship. The SGO has been central to that mission for many decades, and I am deeply committed to advancing its role as the global leader in our field. I bring to this position a broad and proven record of leadership across clinical, research, and organizational domains. As Vice Chair for Translational Research and Co-Director of the Ovarian Cancer Moon Shot Program at MD Anderson, I have led large multidisciplinary teams spanning more than fifteen departments, building consensus across basic, translational, and clinical sciences. As Director of the Blanton-Davis Ovarian Cancer Research Program, I have managed complex budgets, philanthropy, and community engagement initiatives, translating vision into sustainable programs that advance discovery and patient impact. Nationally and internationally, I have served on the SGO Board of Directors, IGCS Board, and Reproductive Scientist Development Program Executive Committee, gaining deep insight into governance, advocacy, and mentorship. My vision for the SGO centers on three priorities: empowering our members, expanding our scientific and clinical impact, and strengthening our voice for women’s health worldwide. We must continue to drive innovation in research and clinical care, while also addressing workforce challenges, equity in access, and the well-being of our members. I believe that through collaboration, transparency, and purposeful leadership, the SGO can continue to be both a trusted professional home and a catalyst for transformative progress. It would be an honor to serve and help lead this Society into its next chapter—one defined by unity, excellence, and impact for the patients and communities we serve.
