Personal Statement
Dr. DiSaia instilled in me the belief that true leadership begins with service — to our patients, colleagues, and profession. From my earliest days as a fellow, I have been committed to serving the Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) and advancing our shared mission. The camaraderie and sense of purpose I found among colleagues at SGO meetings continue to inspire me to contribute meaningfully to our society. I have been privileged to serve SGO in multiple capacities, including as a founding member and past Chair of the Ethics Committee, as Vice Chair and member of the Bylaws Committee, and as an original member of the Wellness Taskforce before it achieved full committee status. These experiences have deepened my understanding of SGO’s governance and reinforced my commitment to promoting ethical leadership, member wellness, and organizational integrity. Through each role, I have sought to strengthen our community, foster collaboration, and ensure that our society reflects the highest professional standards. My vision for SGO is one of continued growth and evolution — elevating our society nationally and globally while supporting members across all stages of their careers. As our specialty advances, SGO must continue to offer education, mentorship, and engagement opportunities tailored to every phase — from fellowship to mid-career to senior physicians. The challenges may differ, but the need for connection, advocacy, and purpose remains constant. It would be a profound honor to serve on the SGO Board of Directors and to continue contributing to an organization that has shaped my professional journey and strengthened our field. I remain committed to carrying forward our legacy of excellence, compassion, and service. Respectfully submitted, Nefertiti duPont, MD, MPH
