Advocate for Gynecologic Cancer Research During August Recess

Jul 28, 2025

With members of Congress back in their home districts for August recess, SGO members have a key opportunity to elevate public awareness of gynecologic cancers and advocate for increased research funding and improved care for those living with these cancers.

To support your advocacy efforts, we are pleased to share the following resources with SGO members:

Grassroots Advocacy Toolkit

This comprehensive toolkit offers guidance on how to be an effective advocate, including tips for meeting with your members of Congress locally, attending town halls, and writing impactful Op-Eds or Letters to the Editor.

Grassroots Talking Points

This document provides up-to-date talking points on gynecologic cancers and emphasizes the importance of federal funding for research through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program (CDMRP), and urging Congress to take steps to prevent future chemotherapy shortages.

CDMRP Social Media Toolkit

Use this toolkit for sample social media posts and messaging to help raise awareness and build support for the CDMRP’s role in advancing gynecologic cancer research and preventing future chemotherapy shortages.
