SGO CME/CE Mission Statement

SGO is a national medical specialty society for health care providers trained in the comprehensive management of gynecologic cancers. The society was initially developed for gynecologic oncologists—obstetrician/gynecologists with three to four years of additional, intensive training in the specific study of gynecologic cancers. SGO expanded its membership to include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, social workers, scientists, pathologists and allied health care professionals interested in the treatment and care of women’s cancer. This comprehensive inclusion of other professionals committed to women’s cancer healthcare enhances SGO members’ ability to provide superior multidisciplinary cancer treatment including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery and supportive care.

Purpose

The purpose of the CME/CE content is to provide education in gynecologic oncology, foster ongoing research, and support the continued training and professional development of individuals working in this field.

Content Areas

The content of SGO’s CME/CE activities reflects the entire cancer care team’s needs surrounding the sub-specialty areas of the society and includes, but is not limited to, Cervical Cancer, Ovarian Cancer, Endometrial Cancer, Breast Cancer, Preinvasive Gynecologic Neoplasia, Pain Management in Palliative Care, Reproductive Issues and Fertility Options for Cancer Patients, Surgical Techniques and Medical Malpractice.

More About Continued Education

How do I claim credit?

Associated with each educational activity for which credit is offered, learners are provided the opportunity to claim credit for their participation in the activity by completing evaluations after the conclusion of the event. All live meeting evaluations are sent electronically,  immediately following the activity. Evaluations for online education offering credit may be available immediately with the course setup or are sent electronically at periodic intervals.

What is SGO’s process for identifying and resolving conflicts of interest?

An important aspect of ACCME compliance is the disclosure and resolution of any conflicts of interest involving speakers or individuals participating in the educational planning process and a commercial interest. SGO Council-approved policies require that anyone involved in a CME activity, or in a position to influence its educational content, must disclose all financial relationships using the SGO Financial Disclosure Form. Any financial relationships will be reviewed and resolved through SGO’s disclosure resolution outlined in SGO’s Conflict of Interest Disclosure and Dissociation policy.
