Submission Types
- Abstract: Innovative science covering a range of topics that are relevant to gynecologic oncology
- Trials in Progress Poster (TIPs): Typically slotted as a poster this includes ongoing research initiated and conducted with data/results not available
- Surgical Film: Documents a surgical procedure, serves as an instructional tool
- Late-Breaking Abstract: Ground-breaking, high-impact science – Don’t miss the change to the submission process this year

Abstracts, Trials in Progress Posters, and Surgical Films:
Submission Eligibility
- Submissions may address any topic relevant to SGO’s mission. Key Concepts facilitate the peer-review process and are not meant to limit research submitted for consideration.
- Submissions must be new, impactful science that has not been presented or published before the SGO Annual Meeting, April 10-13, 2026. Research that is ongoing or previously presented can only be submitted if significant developments can be shown. These encore presentations are selected at the discretion of the SGO Annual Meeting Program Committee.
- SGO is not responsible for registration expenses and other travel accommodations.
- Fees, sponsorship, and/or SGO membership are not required to submit an abstract.
- SGO reserves the right to decline abstracts or withdraw presentations if deemed necessary.
Submission Requirements
- SGO reserves the right to use a medical editor to check for errors and make minor updates.
- Each Abstract Submission must clearly identify the following:
- Title: Describe the nature of the content but does not include author or affiliation identifying terms. Use sentence case and capitalize only the first word and proper nouns.
- Objectives: An introductory sentence indicating the purpose of the study
- Methods: A brief description of pertinent experimental procedures, including statistics
- Results: A summary of the new, unpublished data
- Conclusions: A statement of the conclusions
- Character Limit: 3,000 characters, including spaces; this does not include abstract title, author string, nor a single allotted table or graph.
- Institution Names and Location: Abstract text must be anonymous for grading purposes. Do not reference institution names or locations in the body of your abstract.
- No Use of Brand Names and Trade Names in Submissions: Brand names of pharmaceuticals and trade names of medical devices cannot be used in the title or body of the abstract.
- Table/Graph: Each abstract submission is limited to one (1) table or graph. Do not enter charts, graphs, bullet points, indentations, or references in the abstract text.
- Language Format and Grammar: Text must be in English or British format only. Review your abstract for grammar and spelling errors prior to submitting.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): Abstracts should not be authored by generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the writing process but rather used to improve grammar and readability.
- Surgical Film Submissions:
- Evaluated based on educational content and audio/visual quality.
- Submit with sound, at regular speed, in .AVI, .MOV, or .MP4 formats (.MP4 files preferred)
- The maximum file size is 200 MB. A PowerPoint presentation is not required.
- Under 10 minutes long
- Free from commercial/product bias and logos.
Review Scoring Criteria
Submissions are peer-reviewed for scientific merit, quality, advanced, and innovative methods.
Presenting Author Requirement and Acceptance Notifications
- Submission Categories: A submission may be submitted using the Submitter Only, Presenting Author, or Author categories; only one Presenting Author can be indicated and will be listed first.
- Multiple Abstracts and Surgical Films: A presenting author may submit multiple abstracts; however, presentations cannot occur at the same time, unless designated as on-demand or virtual.
- Use the same contact information for each abstract if submitting more than one abstract.
- Individual authors cannot submit the same abstract or surgical film.
- Authorship: The author limit is 25. If your abstract exceeds this, email education@sgo.org. Author names and institutions should be written in full, with the primary degree for each author (ex: MD, PhD). Each author must provide a city or province, state, and country when completing the SGO Bio form.
- Responsibilities: All submission categories are responsible for sending bio and disclosure invitations to co-authors and arranging the author list in the desired order for publication in the final online abstract supplement.
- Use the search database function to locate and include each author in the abstract.
- Presenters are required to provide disclosure of relationships with commercial interests.
- Each author will receive an email with a unique link to complete the SGO Bio and COI Disclosure forms. The abstract submitter may track the authors’ progress of COI Disclosure form completion and send reminder emails using the author list for your abstract.
- SGO will also send reminder communications to complete bios and disclosures.
Steps for Submission
- Select only one Key Concept Group category that best represents the content of your abstract.
- Multiple disease sites may be selected.
- Complete the online submission form, ensuring that each field is completed as instructed. Click the “Save” button or “Next” when you have completed each section.
- Each author listed on the abstract must complete all required demographic, biographical, and conflict of interest information for the abstract to be eligible for review.
- Click “Submit for Review” before the published deadline to ensure your abstract is formally submitted. You will receive a confirmation email once the abstract has been successfully submitted.
- Edits may be made in the online system until the submission deadline, at which point the site will close, and no further changes will be allowed.

Acceptance Notifications
Presenting authors will receive all email communications related to accepted submissions by mid-December 2025, (unless stated otherwise), and will be required to complete the acceptance survey in order to present at the SGO Annual Meeting. Please note: Poster notifications may be delayed due to batch number assignments. A follow-up email will be sent to presenting authors, providing access to the Speaker Portal to upload PowerPoint presentations and complete all required information.

New this year: the 2025 call for late-breaking abstracts (LBAs) is officially open. Submit your shell by September 26, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Must present high-impact research findings that were not available by the regular abstract submission deadline.

Should include randomized trials or original research with innovative, practice-changing results.

Cannot be used to extend the general abstract deadline. All studies with complete data should be submitted as a general abstract.
Submission Shell Requirements
- Title of the abstract: Describe the nature of the content, but do not include author or affiliation identifying terms. Use sentence case and capitalize only the first word and proper nouns.
- Title Example: Combination of BVAC-C and durvalumab in recurrent or metastatic cervical cancer: a phase II study
- Author(s) and their affiliation: note that the author list may be updated during the full resubmission process, if the abstract is accepted. The submitter and presenting author should be listed.
- Objective: a brief explanation of why the abstract qualifies as late-breaking
Submissions Must Include
- Introduction: A brief statement about the purpose of the study and its pertinent background.
- Method: the method(s) of study or data collection employed.
- Expected Results: if available, include any preliminary findings or anticipated analyses and data to be reported.
- Impact: Highlight the potential implications of the study and why it is of high importance to the field.

Additional Information
- An author may submit more than one late-breaking abstract
- Shell submissions that do not meet the criteria will not be reviewed
