The journey through fellowship is filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and prepare for the next stage of a career in gynecologic oncology. As the Society of Gynecologic Oncology’s (SGO) new Fellow-in-Training Representative to the Board of Directors, Allison Froehlich, MD, is committed to ensuring Fellow-in-Training members have the support, resources, and connections they need every step of the way.

As she begins her term, Dr. Froehlich is focused on strengthening the SGO community for Fellow-in-Training members while building on the success of Fellows Focus, the newsletter created to keep trainees connected to the Society, their peers, and the latest educational and professional opportunities.

“Fellowship is a transformative time,” says Dr. Froehlich. “It’s when we’re developing not only our clinical and surgical skills, but also the professional relationships and experiences that shape our careers. I want SGO to be a trusted resource throughout that journey.”

Over the coming year, Dr. Froehlich’s work will center on three priorities:

  • Building a stronger community by fostering meaningful connections and networking opportunities among Fellow-in-Training members across the country.
  • Supporting the transition to practice by helping members prepare for the move from senior fellowship to early-career attending practice.
  • Expanding access to educational resources that promote fellow-level, evidence-based learning and surgical excellence.

While these initiatives will guide her work, Dr. Froehlich believes one of the most important aspects of her role is listening.

She encourages Fellow-in-Training members to share their ideas, questions, and experiences so SGO can continue evolving to meet their needs.

“Our Fellow-in-Training members are the future of gynecologic oncology,” she says. “I hope Fellows Focus becomes more than a newsletter. I want it to be a place where members can stay informed, find valuable resources, build connections, and know their voices are being heard.”

As Fellows Focus continues to grow, members can expect timely updates, educational opportunities, career development resources, and stories that reflect the experiences and priorities of Fellow-in-Training members across SGO.

Whether you’re just beginning fellowship or preparing for your first attending position, Dr. Froehlich hopes Fellows Focus will help you stay connected, supported, and engaged throughout your training and beyond.

Be part of the conversation. Fellows Focus is your newsletter, created for SGO’s Fellow-in-Training members. Share your ideas, questions, and feedback to help shape future content and initiatives. Together, we can build an even stronger community for the next generation of gynecologic oncology leaders.
